Solve : DDNS and UPnP question? |
|
Answer» I have purchased an ip cam that i want to be able to view over the internet and on Lan. I have GOT this to work but I just need someone to clear something up for me. When I go into the Device status of the Camera I notice that DDNS Status says connecting all the time, but under UPNP status it says UPnP Succeed. This is all good that it's working, but it's left me a bit unsure about how I am connected. Would you say I am only connected through UPnP or through DDNS aswell? Like I say I can view my cam over the internet now outside of the Lan, but I'm confused. You need to understand the distinction between DNS and UPnP. I have set this webcam up using UPnP, but do you know how I would setup up a dynamic IP address in conjunction with a Dynamic DNS (DDNS) service? Can you tell me if the dynamic IP address is the one my Internet service provider assigns me or can I set this up myself? Thankyou!!As much as I would like to help you, I am a slow reader and some of these things I have not done myself. So the best I can recommend is you look over many of the articles written about webcams. Use either Google or BING and search: how Setup Webcams Expect results like these summaries here: Quote How to Set up a Webcam: 5 steps (with pictures) - wikiHowThe above are NOT the best articles. This is just to show you what to expert when you search. As to IP address, you do not set the IP address used on the Internet. Your local provider sets the Internet address. |
