It's up to the mobo maker. If I had to guess, I'd say it's okay. You won't damage anything, it just won't work. You probably don't need more RAM, depends on wht you use the computer for. Sorry, and you're wrong again. There are no standards (rules) for this. It's up to the mobo maker. If I had to guess, I'd say it's okay. You won't damage anything, it just won't work.
