Solve : DEAD CPU??

Answer»

Is this cpu DEAD or not I dont really have a machine to tell me if it is or not?  Any thoughts tried to make it to the recommened size but good enough to tell.

[recovering disk space -- attachment deleted by admin]Not even sure what the heck I'm looking at. Can you provide a CLEARER picture? Not really its the top of a socket 370 intel cpu.  Its hard cause of the sizeing.Well, as blurry as that picture is, it's hard to tell. It looks like it's melted.  Thats why I havent posted these till know.Thats funny, i made it bigger not sure if it will be better or not.  Something else I should bring up.

[recovering disk space -- attachment deleted by admin]I see it... I just can't see what I'm looking at. I realize it's the top of the processor, but without more detail....notice the blue like color.  See where its some what scratched, is that a BAD thing? That looks melted to me.
It may be working, or it may not, the only way to tell for sure is to try it.
However, it's definitely possible to see that the HEAT spreader on top and the surrounding area have twisted as though melted - that must have been some intense heat!

The "blue thing" is the heat spreader by the way, and it doesn't usually matter if that's damaged. Are you looking at the white stuff?  Cause thats the paste.I'm saying that the heat spreader looks twisted to me.
I think I was slightly confused by the paste though, looking again the chip itself appears intact.Squall, it's impossible to tell with these pictures. You need to provide clear pictures. If size is a problem, upload them to a photo hosting site first.Doing so, I need to talk with him about this too.  Probably getting mad about the changes.
