Answer»

Hi everyone, recently I've been receive a PC by GIFT with the purpose to install Linux Debian on it. The point is that sometimes the PC turns blinking the power led and don't start up. I think that the power switch is broken or something like that, but I have to wait a couple of time to turn on again.
There is the PC specifications:
* Brand: Dell
* Model: GX110
* CPU: Intel PIII 800 MHz
* RAM: 128 Mb SDRAM Bus PC133
* HD: 13 GB IDE
* Video: 32 Mb.
* SO: Linux Debian 4.0
* Display: Dell 14"
* KEYBOARD and mice right connected and 100% functionally

If you know something, could you please help me about this stuff?

Regards
I have seen similar ISSUES on newer Dell PCS. Open up the case and look at the motherboard. You will see several smallish capacitors (black tubes with a silver top). Visually, check to see that the silver tops are all flat. If they are bulged upward, or leaking, the motherboard needs replacing.

Also, check that all of the small WIRES coming from the front of the computer are attached snugly on the motherboard.

sometimes the PC turns blinking the power led and don't start up.

What do you mean by Pc turns? Do you hear any beeps?

When you switch the power on do any fans start up inside the computer? REMOVE the side case and have a look when you are about to switch in on.

Well, I've seek all the failure posibilitiies, and my result is that the power switch button is broken, to turn on the PC I most open the case and it works perfectly!!!!

Thanks for your answers and help!!!

Warmest Regards
