Answer» Hey CH,
I have a question about the dell dimmension 3000 bios upgrade.
Currently, I'm running "PHOENIX rom bios plus version 1.10 a2" and it supports up to 3.0ghz processors. I wanted to upgrade to BIOS A3, and wanted to know what that will support.
Dell tries to help...
Code: [Select]The following changes have been made to BIOS rev A02 to create A03:
1. Add support for newer processors ... but as usual, they FAIL at customer service. (taken from dell's "support" website).
Google didn't help MUCH, but I could hve been phrasing my keywords incorrectly.
I know that on bios a2, the dimmension can handle up to a 3.2GHz P4, socket 478, but what exactly the newer processor speeds are, remains a mystery. (*hopes for dual core*)
Any information REGARDING what the new BIOS version can support would be greatly appreciated.
Hopeful Regards, ImageThe highest speed CPU a Socket478 board will support is a 3.4ghz... So for +.2 gain in CPU speed is a BIOS flash really worth it ? ? Flashing the BIOS incorrectly can result in an unbootable machine.
