Hi,

Our laptop will read and play CDs but when you try to write or copy to them it says to Insert new disc then it will not accept any disc. I have UPDATED the drivers and don;t know what else to do. We use Windows ME edition.

What is the make and model of the laptop and burner?The laptop is about 7 years old...It has been sitting on a shelf for a few years. I am not sure about the burner, we just tried to save to the DRIVE and it would not work.I can't help you if you don't give me any information.

Have I understood you right that you are trying to burn data to a cd but it wont let you?
What program are you using when you try to burn?

What drive are you trying to save?OK...The computer is a Dell Inspirion 4000. I am trying to save to the D: drive which is the CD drive. I have tried to save pictures from my pictures and data from Excel but end up with the same results. I don't know what burner, if any, is already on the computer.
