Solve : Dell Raid help?

Hello I have a Dell Dimension E510 with raid 1.
One drive went bad so I bought a 500gb drive and PARTITIONED in half, the original drive is a 160gb.
When I installed the new drive I have the OPTION to Rest disk to non-raid.
When I pick the other option to create a raid volume it says there isnt a drive big enough.
Do I NEED to reset to non-raid so it can redo everything.
When I CLICK on the reset disk to non-raid it says all DATA will be lost, is that just on the old disk?
But will all my information be on the bootable drive still?

Thanks for any help on this.

I am all set, I had an update that messed something up and did a restore point rebooted and it found the drive fine and is rebuilding the array now
