Answer» Hello all,
I use a Dell v305w printer with my Dell Studio 1535 laptop. For the past few weeks, my printer will print 1 or 2 pages of a document, but then I will get a message saying:
"Found New Hardware: Windows needs to install software for your S1307 LEXMARK SERIES"
Afterward, my printer is unresponsive until I restart my computer.
Why is this happening? I've never used any Lexmark products before. Is it a virus? Do I need to uninstall then re-install the Dell driver software? I use Windows Vista, and I've had the computer and printer for 2.5 years. I've never used the wireless capabilities of the printer either. Only the USB cable.
I recently DOWNLOADED the Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (after this problem started). I use McAfee and Spybot programs for anti-virus and malware protection. I've tried running scans in both programs while my computer was in safe mode, but this did not solve my problem. My internet CONNECTION is a public wireless network on my campus.
Thanks for any advice you can give!Certainly sounds like "someone" tried to introduce a Lexmark printer via your network. Go into "printers and faxes or whatever it is denoted as in Vista and see what printers are listed there. truenorth
