Answer» Hi everyone, With that budget you might look at: What is the 180W AC power ADAPTOR? Does this rig not have an internal PSU?32gb of RAM is going to be tight in that budget. You're pushing the limit of DDR3 based desktops and a newer DDR4 system which would easily support that much RAM is going to end up out of your budget. What sort of VMs are you running, if it's just a few Linux VMs for testing stuff you probably don't need that much RAM. You may end up having to get something with less RAM and upgrade it later. Make sure that whatever you get will definitely take 32gb of RAM as a lot of prebuilt machines will only have 2 RAM slots and support up to 16gb RAM. For CPU I'd either go with an Intel Core i5 or Intel Core i7. I presume you aren't planning on any sort of serious gaming in which case the integrated graphics will be fine. What about looking at used or refurbished systems?basically i would like to go with windows 7 OS. Up on Windows 7 i will install Vmware Workstation. On Vmware Workstation i will have atleast 5 virtual machines. 1. DC (windows 2012 R2) 2. VCenter Server (Windows 2012 R2) This will have SQL Database. 3. Vmware ESXi Host (ESXi 6 OS) 4. Vmware ESXi host (ESXi 6 OS) 5. Open Filer (Linux based OS) or Open Nas |
