Solve : desktop computer power pack blown!?

Answer»

voltage upsurge blew my power pack,i have changed most of the found failty components, still it seens not to work.can any one HELP me with the possible components normally damaged by voltage upsurge,or what i can do to rescue this power pack !you're best bet is to replace the power supply and I would reccommend not to go with the $20 special also possibly something else is wrong like maybe yoiur motherboard maybe fried I don't know for sure. I NEED to know the specs for your computer please so that we can further help youand for all your power going to your computer ... did you have a power surge protector USED?By referring to "power pack"...

Do you mean Power Supply, or the motherboard's voltage regulator?

Which components did you replace?

Have you checked the motherboard for swollen or blown capacitors?

If it's the Power Supply...do you have another you can use to test?

brett74 also made a great recommendation...get a surge suppressor...

Make sure it provides enough protection for all peripherals...specifically, your computer.

If you can afford it...PURCHASE a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) to PROVIDE you with enough power to safely shut down your computer during power outages.

Also remember to unplug your computer from all cables and power outlets during a thunderstorm.

Nothing can save your computer from a direct hit by lightning.
