Solve : Desktop Freezeing??

My desktop well startup fine nothing happens everthing is fine. But ill be on the computer for a lil while and it just freezes and i cant do anything but restart the computer. can any one tell what to do to try and fix this problem from happening all the time.

its a compaq sr1803wm in a hp a710e tower

8500 GT GeForce 256 MB

CPU
*Pentium 4 HT
* 3 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache

RAM
* 2 GB PC-4200 533 MHz

Operating SYSTEM
* Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate
* Microsoft Service Pack 1

I'd definitelly take advantage of warranty. More tinkering may void it, and on a top of it, who knows what will go wrong in ANOTHER couple of months.I install XP and its not freezing. Maybe Vista is that bad LOL I believe, you lost your warranty, then...lost warranty of WHATON your computer.this computer is way pass warranty lol. Just the parts inside would have warranty.

I install XP and its not freezing. Maybe Vista is that bad lol
I'm sure you could have changed some settings in Vista and saved it
