Solve : Different RAM Not Working Together? |
|
Answer» Windows XP Pro SP 3 The two Corsair are 512mb PC3200 400MHz and the single OCZ is 1024mb PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel. I don't really know what dual channel does but I'm assuming that's the problem since besides that they're identical. Dual channel has nothing to do with it. The RAM is not compatible EDIT: with each other. This is very common when mixing memory modules. The same specs do not guarantee compatibility. Suggest that: you return the newly purchased RAM, and, if you want 2 GB, PURCHASE 'matched RAM' for dual channel - this will be 4 x 512 MB modules, or 2 x 1 GB modules, check your MB MANUAL. If you want 1 GB, use the 2 x Corsair or the OCZ, whichever you didn't return - just be sure that you install the RAM into the correct slots per the MB manual. Best of luck! EDIT: The MB spec that I looked at suggested that the board will only run PC3200 (400) SPEEDS for MSI CERTIFIED memory. May be an issue for you trying to run at 400 mhz. However, the difference between running at 366 v 400 is insignificant. |
