Answer» This might SEEM like a stupid question but is there a way I can disconnect from the internet at will? The reason being i've ALWAYS had dial-up, and we are getting Dsl in our area next week and I've signed up thru TALK America DSL. In Dial-up if you wanted to be off the WEB you just logged off, would this be the same for dsl? :-/
I hope I'am in the right forum and Thanks ahead for any advice
DonDepends on your type of DSL connection. If you have a USB DSL modem that plugs into your PC. the chances are that you'll have on/off software control. But the point of DSL is that it's "always on". The important thing is that you ensure you are running adequate security software and a correctly-configured firewall. Then it doesn't matter if the connection is live 24/7.
Of course if you're determined to take the connection down, you can always UNPLUG the DSL router/modem/whatever you have.
