When I sat down at my computer this morning I NOTICED my disk tray was open, and a drink that was on my desk had been knocked over and spilled onto the disk that was sitting in the open tray (had to be the cat)
I took the disk out, cleaned it off and put it away. I Checked out the open try and it appeared to be dry.
Anyway now the thing keeps opening and closing every few seconds, and the USB ports in the front (under the tray) don't seem to be working/detecting either.
Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it in?
Thanks.Reboot your computer for a start. Then check in device manager for any alerts or warnings for your player and USB ports.I would get a can of compressed air and blow it out good. No telling how long it sat after the cat spilled the drink. It may have dried up on the OUTSIDE but is still wet inside.

To add to this you may want to open the case and blow it out from the inside. This will keep you from blowing any liquid further into your system and possible causing more damage. You didn't mention if the drink was water or some other matter that might be coruptive even when dry.

I think you mean corrosive. A very valid point by the way.
