Answer» Can anybody help me? WHen I turn on my computer I get nothing but a message saying....DISKETTE DRIVE 1 SEEK FAILURE NO BOOT DEVICE AVAILABLE STRIKE F1 TO RETRY BOOT, F2 FOR SETUP UTILITY I've tried everything I KNOW I need HELP!!!!! running window xp Is/was there a floppy in the drive ? ?
If so remove it power down and startup again.(1) Make sure there's no floppydisk in the drive. Also check the cables to your floppydrive and check the BIOS settings.
(2) Try unplugging any usb items and see if it still hangs
(3) Press "Del" at startup, as soon as it lists the hard drives etc. (sometimes F9-F12) The key('s) are displayed on the screen.
Then it looks for a primary boot device and make sure the HD-0 or HD-1 or C: or HD is the first primary boot device in the boot sequence.
Revised* make sure the HD-0 or HD-1 or C: or HD is the first primary boot device in the boot sequence.
get into your bios and change the boot-sequence* go- CD/DVD (1st) / Hard drive (2ND)
Theres no floppy drive in fact its not hooked up. Went down about a year ago and havent been able to get a new one yet. no usb's hooked up either. still giving same messageMake sure you have no disks in your floppy drive. Otherwise your hard drive needs to be turned on in your bios I think.
