Solve : Do I have a hard drive or RAM problem? Or maybe something else entirely??

Answer»

Yep, I have tested each stick individually, and in the first and last and middle slots too.And the results were.....I still get errors regardless of which stick is being tested and which slot it is in.Remove both sticks and clean the contacts with a SOFT toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol.
Clean out the RAM slots with a can of compressed air.
Re-seat one stick at a time and re-run memtest.
If you are still getting errors return the RAM for replacement.
If the new RAM tests BAD also then the RAM slots themselves are bad and you may have to replace the MBoard. Can it be possible also if that's the case where my RAM is not compatible with my motherboard?Yes of course. Unlikely because usually I don't think the motherboard WOULD let you get past the BIOS. Post the exact RAM specifications or the make and model of them. I'll check them against this motherbaord: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8NGM2-NBP

What's happened about the harddrive, has that been replaced or run diagnostics on yet? It doesn't have to have bad sectors or data to be crapping out. They are not physical checks, only data checks. If you have not done so already, back up ALL required data in case of a PERMANENT hard disk failure.

There are THREE things, you may only need to replace one, you may need to replace all of them, I don't know at this stage; Hard disk, memory, motherboard.

Something I found on your motherboard site:
Quote

• Dual-channel DDR works ONLY in the 3 combinations listed in the table shown above.
• Please select the identical memory modules to install on the dual channel, and DO NOT install three memory modules on three DIMMs, or it may cause some failures.
• Always insert the memory modules into the GREEN slots first, and it is strongly recommended not to insert the memory modules into the PURPLE slots while the GREEN slots are left empty.
• This mainboard DO NOT support the memory module installed with more than 18 pieces of IC (integrated circuit).
• The Maximum memory speed decreases when the following two memory combination is selected:
- Each channel is installed with two double-sided memory module
- Both DIMM1 and DIMM3 are installed with double-sided memory module
• Due to the South Bridge resource deployment, the system density will only be detected up to 3+ GB (not full 4GB) when each DIMM is installed with an 1GB memory module
The size of that message was unneccesary...Sorry man, I typed instead of .

Don't hate me No problem...glad you fixed it...DeltaSlaya,

I don't remember what brand my 3 older sticks of OEM RAM is, but they each have the following label:
