Solve : Do I have to uninstall my graphics card driver for this??

Answer»

Hi
I currently have the geforce 8800gt, but tomorrow I will be getting the geforce 260gtx. Now this is where I believe my problems might start again. I say "again" because last week I purchased the ati 4870 and had one *censored* of a nightmare installing it. Please, let me explain what I did before these problems began. I uninstalled my nvidia DRIVER in control panel, shutdown my computer, installed the ati 4870, booted back up, only to be greeted with the message "Usb over current detected the computer will shutdown in 15 seconds". Now to cut along story short, it turned out, that by doing this simple procedure it ruined my mainboard.

Now what I need to know, can I install this new geforce 260 without first uninstalling the 8800gt drivers first? I say this because that's where I FEEL the problems I had last time began. You see I uninstalled the nvidia driver, but as soon as it asked me to reboot with the geforce 8800gt STILL in, all I got was a blank screen.
Do the uninstall from device manager, do the install of the new card with power off & install new card ,assuming you are running win xp upon booting up windows should recognise new hardware insta driverQuote from: XAVIER on OCTOBER 27, 2008, 05:06:15 PM
