Solve : Docking Station?

Answer»

Right now I'm on a Gateway Solo Pentium II laptop without the docking station. I quit using the docking station about a year ago because of a problem. Either you WOULD press the power button and nothing would happen, or Windows would NEVER start. To get it to start I had to alternate pressing the power button on the laptop and on the docking station itself. This isn't all too important to solve, because I'm fine with just the laptop. But the docking station has an additional four USB ports and a port for a keyboard, which would make life a lot easier.

Any help would be fantastic. Quote

If you don't want to use your docking station, because of some power button problems, get USB hub for $10-$20...And since it's a laptop you want to spend the extra money and get a powered hub with  adapter...Even then I can't add a keyboard. On the laptop there is one PS/2 port, so one mouse, or one keyboard. And I'm not exactly old enough to drive to the store, anyway...Yeah I'm kinda gonna spam this so people see it...  Any help?Well you stated you can't get to the store...

The $10 - $20 dollar range wasn't in your budget...

Not sure what else we can do...

But feel free to keep bumping it so everyone gets to READ it.I know I could get a USB adapter somehow but that isn't the main reason I want the docking station. I could plug in a keyboard (we have an extra one). I want a keyboard because on a laptop sometimes I'll accidentally hit the click button (below the keyboard), a whole bunch of text is selected and if I don't realize it, all that text is lost. It is soooo annoying an bad if I'm trying to do a report. Undo on Word 97 isn't the best OPTION, either.Like i said... Quote

How about you connect your mouse, or keyboard there, then the other device through USB hub (with PS/2 to USB adapter, if NECESSARY)?
But, you still need to spend few bucks....Or I could just stop. Trying. patio, you're trying to help by evading the problem, and I thank you for helping, but I need the problem solved not evaded.Do some house chores, and you'll make few bucks to buy what you need Quote from: Sharamall on October 25, 2007, 05:48:28 PM

This is rich...
We have offered suggestions freely.
You have chosen not to take them.
Who's evading what ? ?

BTW There's also this option:

Of course this would also involve a trip to the store.Never mind.
