Answer» Hi, first time here. I've had a web site up and RUNNING for a couple of years: www.ryanartduo.com using EXPLORER 6.0 and Front page 2002, constructed with tables. Recently, I've been told I should have been using "doctypes," a topic totally foreign to me. A doctype was suggested to me, which I inserted at the top of my home page html. when I published the page I noticed it had spread some of the top text and horizontal lines, up and down, but did not ruin it. Questions: 1- Must I have a doctype on each page, of which there are many, including ENLARGED image pages hyperlinked to cropped thumbnail pages? (my site is a gallery for my wife and me--artists) 2- Can you suggest a service that can view my site and tell me the exact doctypes to use? 3- If not, can one of you help me out? I'm at a loss. Martin. P.S. I'm working offline on a second site. I tried the suggested doctype (off line) and it shifted some text. This page will explain all:

Hope this HELPS. Thanks Sidewinder. Been there earlier and couldn't decide which was for me. But I'll try reading it again first chance I get. Thanks for the reply. Martin.Yeah I'm in the same boat, friend recently suggested Doctypes.
I know what a dt is, I know what it does and even where it goes...just no idea what to actualy use as I'm useing FP.
That site while helpful to html USERS doesn't do us FP folk much good.
What HTML does FP use as it's (not sure here) base?
Just found this give it a whirl
