Solve : Dos Startup Sequence?

Answer»

i'm fixing this OLD computer up, and since some input devices are currently in need of REPLACING, i figured i'd throw the hd in to this compy (pentium 3 755mhz) and get all the stuff i need on there, on there. im putting MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 on here, and all was going fine untill i installed dos. it told me to reset without any disks in the drives and it'd boot from the hd. it didnt. i checked bios, everything was set up rite, so i tried it again, but it got stuck where it WOULD normally read the boot device, be it the floppy or cd, or c:\. started up windows xp with the other hd as a slave, and it accessed it fine, and if i boot up with a ms-dos boot DISK, it is easily accessable.

i dont know whats wrong with it, mabey im missing a file? or i dont have autoexec.bat set up right? is a boot.ini required? i really dont know. any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. thank you!iso sys file..........cheat download a ms6.22 boot disk from www.bootdisks.com........and use a:\ sys c:
file transfer message........now try it..hay, its the guy who wrote the message up there^

i didnt quite depict what you meant by your message, but i tried what i think you meant. i copied the startup disk ONTO the hard disk, and changed the auto.bat to suit. didnt quite work. i dont know waht u meant, but if you can paint me a clearer picture lolIs there anything you need on that harddrive? If there is not, I would simply reformat it and start over. Remember that Windows 3.1 can only use FAT16 not FAT32 or NTFS. Could this be the problem?
