Solve : Double Bleep?

Answer»

Any advice appreciated
Last week i downloaded skype and added a webcam, both are working fine, but what i have noticed is on start up i get a double bleep when the webcam is connected instead of one, and also on shutdown i have to shutdown twice before the computer switches off,
When the webcam is not connected everything is a normal, is there a problem.

Perhaps the webcam is faulty, inspect the USB connector. If no abnormalities are found, plug it into another slot and see if it STILL HAPPENS.. If it does, perhaps you should bring it back to the vendor and ask for a replacement. If that doesn't work, at LEAST uninstall and reinstall the software before taking it back.

Hoop2077Thanks for your help tried the reinstall didnt help so i went for the first option and took it back.
But now i find i cant get the the sound to work on skype or media player, reistall again a few times also upgraded drivers from sis still no joy.
When i make a test call on skype there is no play back, but yet the micophone works on the laptop,so i know its not the microphone,by the way it works fine on the laptop but not my base computer.
I have attached my everest report for you to advise

[old attachment deleted by admin]No sound is muted? What drivers did you install for the soundcard? Does the device manager report any errors? Quote

From a cd rom that came with the webcam.

Both the laptop and the base computers are set up the same in the control panel and with skype, but one works and the other doesn't ??There are no soundcard drivers on webcam CD's. Quote

Can you direct me to the soundcard drivers what you think i might NEED please.

You will first need to know what kind of soundcard you have. Do you happen to know the name?

If the soundcard is attached to your motherboard, you should be able to find drivers on the motherboard CD. I really havent a clue what you are asking me ,
how will i find out what kind of sound card i have, where will i find the name?
what motherboard cd??. my knowledge on these things is very limited

SiS 7012 Audio Device drivers (1.12A)

Have you installed the above software? It is required for your PC to detect the soundcard. You seem to have a SiS 7012 soundcard, which is onboard.

Is it detected in the device manager? If there is a question /exclamation mark next to it or if there is an undetected audio device you should uninstall those entries and install these drivers. Thanks for your help Raptor

Yes it is detected as you can see , the only excalmation mark is on another device which i suspect to be my camera

[old attachment deleted by admin]I'd uninstall the webcam entry, uninstall the soundcard software, run crap cleaner, restart the PC and then reinstall the soundcard drivers.

If you're absolutely sure it aren't your settings (Muted, wrong playback device selected under Windows sound configuration, etc) I guess that's what you'll have to do.
