Answer» Simple problem but I can't figure it out.
I have a 300GB external hard drive connected via USB. There are 54GB used, 225GB free, and I'm trying to copy a 5GB file to it from my PC. It gives me the message that there is not enough free disk space, and to delete one or more files and then try again.
Thanks.Depending on what version of Windows you are running which we don't know yet there are file size limitations on transfers... You could try splitting the file if you are running anything older than XP.
If this doesn't work you need to check the properties of that external drive by right-cliking My Computer and selecting Manage... From there go to disk management and right clik the external drive and report the results here.Thank you.
I found the problem. The external hard drive is formatted FAT32, and needs to be NTFS.Before you format it remember to back up what INFORMATION you already have on there. Also be sure to check the partition size and make sure it is the size you want.Quote from: Kinibo on September 16, 2007, 08:09:00 PM Thank you.

This should not be an issue... the copy/move command doesn't care what format it is. We still don't know what flavor of Windows you are running.Actually that is the problem patio. On FAT32 the MAXIMUM file size is 4 GB so a 5 GB file would be a no go. NTFS on the other hands supports files up to 2 TB in size.
