Solve : Drive won't burn DVD's anymore?

Answer»

I have a Hitachi DVD drive that can read DVD's as WELL as burn them. I'm running Windows XP. In the PAST I always used a program called Super DVD Creator to make DVD's by converting videos and burning them to DVD, the program does all of that for you.

I have not changed anything on my PC, but now for some reason when I get the burn PART it says it's a invalid format. I tried another DVD burning program, DVD Flick, and got a similar error.

The drive still plays games and movies FINE, for some reason it just won't burn anymore.

Any ideas? How old is this drive. You could have a bad DVD drive already.Optical problem, replace it [drive]I only BOUGHT the drive two years ago. And it burned fine last weekend. Is there any way to find out what's going on for sure?Try cleaning the drive and then use InfraRecorder. They don't make EM like they used to...You mean the way they used to suck in dust and burn out in a month?! SoulBlazer09, Prior to rushing out to purchase a replacement DVD burner if you have the option install the one you are having problems with in another computer (remember to set the pins correctly) and see what happens. If it works it is not the drive. If it doesn't chances are greater that the laser for DVD burning has quit.keep us advised. truenorth
