Solve : Drives keep failing - first floppy, now DVD (won't read or eject!)? |
|
Answer» Two weeks ago or so, the floppy drive failed. It was continually seeking, making a seek NOISE, etc., and not recognizing a floppy disk when inserted (I know, I had to dig one up and dust it off because who uses them anymore anyway, right?). The drive doesn't recognize ANY dvd's now. When I select Eject from My Computer, the light does not flash. When I press the eject button on the DVD drive, it flashes a number of times rapidly, but does not eject. The light does flash, so not unplugged. Very hard to test in another computer, but not impossible. I guess I just don't need the aggravation (4 kids including a baby RUNNING around at the moment - ok, the baby is not running around, but you get the picture!) if anything ELSE is possible to test it... Any other ideas given that it definitely has power??? When the drive is open, the button works to "suck" in the CD but not to eject. |
