Solve : Dual-core processor?

I've found the latest PC games require a faster processor speeds. If a game REQUIRES a 3.0GHz processor, would a dual-core processor with specs LISTING speed at 1.8GHz be able to HANDLE 3.0GHz requirements? -- In other words does dual-core mean double the speed (or at least a proportional increase) because there's two processor on the chip?

JustinNot necessarily. And yes, it should be able to handle it. It may even be BETTER PERFORMANCE if the game supports multithreading well.

Is this CPU a Core 2 Duo by any chance?
