Solve : Dual Core Questions?

Answer»

I just bought a 1.6ghz dual core laptop and have a COUPLE questions

1. how much faster (ect.) is a dual core to single 1.6 ghz cpu

2. I use Process explorer and was thrilled to find it works on Vista, I gives you the ability to set Affinity for any given process cpu 1, 2, 1+2. So what I do sometimes is set Explore affinity to 1 cpu instead of default 1+2 and raise Explorer's priority to above normal or high... It gives a good improvement so my question is could this dammage the cpu ect. or is this what its designed to do, and if so is there a certain way i should configure rather than the default all programs using both cpu'sAlso is this 2 cpu's that equal 1.6 ghz or 2 individual 1.6 ghz cpu's2 x 1.6. NOT 3.2.This laptop's gonna land in the shop pretty soon...Dual core 1.6 is two processors working at 1.6GHz, not 3.2GHz or 2 processors that equal 1.6GHz.
It will help when doing multiple TASKS or working with multi-threaded applications, but not when only doing one thing.Got it. THNX
You're welcome.
