Solve : Dual Core skipping? |
|
Answer» Hello, I Recently bought a new Motherboard, Ram, and an AMD X2 5000+ black edition, and whenever I try to play a game I will play just fine for a bit then suddenly my fps will drop to 1 then go back up again. So far it has done this in every game, and whenever I am in Ventrilo people say that I am skipping. I have tried every Dual-Core Optimization things too, and some of them helped a bit. I have ALSO tried to see if it was my graphics card by taking it out and using my on board VGA but it did the same thing. Please help me I am desperate. Specs Below. Version of Windows? Windows XP SP2 I did reformat, but only the 10Gb one which has windows on it. The 320GB one has all of my GAMES and music and stuff. Do you think i would have to reformat that one too? Because i have at LEAST 200GB of stuff on it and i really don't want too.Actually i would suspect that the 10G HDD is the weak link in this setup...that drive has to be at least 6 years old or more...actually, i had my processor over clocked to 3.0 from 2.6 and i put it back to 2.6 and i don't seem to have the problem anymore. And about the hard drive... When i bought the SATA drive i didnt know that you had to have sata drivers to make the sata your main drive and i dont have a Floppy drive or a cd burner. You could put the SATA driver on a USB drive...really?most defcan some one tell me how or link me to a website with instructions?Explain what your intentions are...you stated you don't want to format the SATA so installing on there is out of the question, Unless you have a backup strategy for the drive installing an OS on it is going to wipe it out. If you plan on adding another SATA drive to install XP to simply DLoad the SATA drivers from the MBoard site and put them on a USB drive. Then remove both drives and plug in the new drive. Boot to the XP CD and early on in the install you will see an F6 prompt to install RAID?SATA drivers...point it to the USB drive and continue with the XP install. After all drivers have been installed and everything is WORKING re-connect your other drives. If i do just reformat the one sata i have and take out that old IDE, will the speed increase be noticable? If so how much and if it is a good amount than i may just reformat it. Also, now whenever I am ingame and i hold down a button for along time, like in CS:S if i hold down TAB than i skip around and lag alot.So do you guys think this is a CPU problem? Or maybe a Motherboard problem? Because I am thinking of returning the CPU and getting a better one for a couple more bucks. But if i don't need to than i won't.Bump for great justice. There will be a performance gain going from the 10g to a SATA drive for your OS... |
