Solve : Dual Monitor Help. Please, God, Help Me.?

Answer»

/////I am trying to install the dual monitor abilty on my PC. I hooked up my primary monitor to my graphics card, and i hooked the other up to the second display adapter above that.

Both monitors work fine, Ive hooked both up to the graphics card, and the are both flawless. Ive gone into display properties/settings and tried to extend the DESKTOP onto my second monitor. This didnt do anything. Every forum i follow tells me to select the secondary monitor and click "Extend my Windows Desktop to this Monitor," and then click either "ok" or "apply". Once i click apply, or ok, my main monitor simply flashes, and then the box becomes UNCHECKED, and nothing has changed.

Ive gone through the hole Troubleshooter, and it told me that it coulnt identify my problem. If any of you kind GENTS could, please give me a hand,
Thanks much

-X-What graphics card is this ? ? Quote

...and i hooked the other up to the second display adapter above that.

what does this mean? do you have two graphics cards or does your graphics card have two monitor outputs? My graphics card is a Radeon 9600 series, and by second display adapter, i mean, there is a second little blue trapezoid on the tower itself located where my usb ports, and ethernet cable plugs in. I plugged it into that guessing that that was just another display output. What Radeon 9600 ? ?
There's a few of them out there...
If the card itself does not have side by side outlets you are not set up for dual monitors...period.

The other one i suspect is your onboard video adapter which can't run if an add-on card is used.
Hope this CLEARS things up.from what i have read/seen the 9600 is capable of dual monitor support, however, you may need to purchase a DVI to VGA adapter. (assuming you are attempting to hook up two VGA monitors.)Thanks guys, thats exactly what i needed. More opinions/iformation. Thanks everyone for reading, and good night.good night to you too.
