Answer» Quote Do you think as moderator you can do something to help others like me , now that you are seized of the issue. OK. Everyone be careful on your "Finalize the Disk" settings. How's that? Thanks PATIO, I will do as you say and get back to you with the result. Incidentally even though I see on the blank the bold RW engraved ,it is only DVD+Recordable[this is what is engraved in small letters below the bold RW]. Would your advice hold good if my DISC is DVD+R only? I quote: http://www.moserbaer.com/products_faqs.asp#b4 ""does finalizing (and closing and fixating) do? A disc that you can add data to is "OPEN". All data is written into the current session. When you have finished writing, you close the session. If you want to make a multi-session disc, you open a NEW session at the same time. If you don't open a new session then, you can't open one later, which means that it's impossible to add more data to the CD-R. The entire disc is considered "closed". The process of changing a session from "open" to "closed" is called "finalizing", "fixating", or just plain "closing" the session. When you close the last session, you have finalized, fixated, or closed the disc."" http://www.moserbaer.com/products_faqs.asp#b4 I am giving above the FAQ answer relevent to the issue taken from the URLhttp://www.moserbaer.com/products_faqs.asp#b4 of the manufacturer MOSERBAER. Can the bosses of this Forum take up with such manufacturers to not have such "FINALITY" and lose the rest of the disc and go for buying the next one so that his sales multiplies. The manufactures should and must make a provision to reverse the "FINALITY" if the user desires to, whether the user 'finalises' intentionally or inadvertantly. We had a locking device in floppy discs to prevent erasures. We could unlock it if we wanted. Why this finality for these discs? Any locking method -mechanical or softwarewise should be unlockable. What would you all say? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would say http://forums.techarena.in/ Quote The manufactures should and must make a provision to reverse the "FINALITY" if the user desires to Who made that up? That can be done with the burning software anyway. What are you using to burn with?Quote Would your advice hold good if my disc is DVD+R only? No CD/DVD R's cannot be erased and re-written.Dear GX1_Man, ""Everyone be careful on your "Finalize the Disk" settings"" Good Idea. But every user of the disc should get this caution every time he uses. How to ensure that UNLESS this caution springs up just before you press the button to BURN. Can you do something about it?Quote Dear GX1_Man, It's all part of the learning process...after you have made a collection of coasters you eventually do the steps properly and all is good in the DVD world.Quote
