Solve : DVD Burner no longer loading?

Answer»

I bought a DVD Burner a few months ago on Newegg. It came with no software or anything but some SHIPPING info and the burner. I plugged it into a tower slot, hooked in the power supply and Flat strap thing (lol) and started up my computer. I was able to burn 2 DVD's of a home video for my family but it hasn't worked since. I can throw a disc into it and the green light outside flashes for awhile, than nothing. BIOS shows nothing LOADING, there is no drive listed in My Computer and I don't know what to do!
I've tried to unplug both cords than put them back in and cleaned it a little, none seem to work.

(RMA= Return Merchandise Authorisation)
The info will be on their site.Well I just got it back from NewEgg today and plugged it into my computer. The same thing is still happening where it shows up on BIOS but it doesn't show up in My Computer or Device Manager.

What COULD the PROBLEM be and how can I fix it?

Thank you and sorry for digging up this topic but thought it might be easier.Thats a IDE, drive how is it connected? Is it ssaved or master ? check your jumper settingsTry using a different IDE cable (that "flat strap thing" you mentioned)Alright I can do that. I'll have to pick some up at Best Buy or something tonight.
Are they all the same?
Because right now this IDE Cable is connected to CD/DVD and DVD Burner. I also seem to have 2 separate cables that look exactly the same 1 attached to my hard drive-Mo Bo and the other attached to a none FUNCTIONING Floppy-Mo Bo.take the old one with you so you get the right oneIf there are 2 Optical drives setup on that one ribbon cable you need to check the jumpers on the back of the drives...

Master = end of IDE cable.
Slave = middle connector.
