Solve : DVD/CD burner not recognized by system?

Answer»

I have a HP Multimedia PC that is about 2 years old, the original DVD/CD burner DIED while under waranty and HP (after debugging the issues for days) sent me a new one (lightscribe). During the initial debug process HP had ne uninstall and reinstall drivers and software. When I put the new drive in my PC did not recognize it in the Device Manger as DVD/CD-ROM drive but it would see it as an "UNKNOWN" device. Ever since this time the DVD/CD burning feature has not worked properly.  I have no SUCCESS writing CD's no matter what brand of media I use. Also some of the burning software will not recognize the drive.

Does ANYONE know how I can get the drive to be recognized as a DVD/CD-ROM drive in the device manager??

Thanks
Royce :-?Call HP again to have them walk you through installing working device drivers (it sounds like the ones they had you install are either corrupted or the incorrect ones for your hardware and version of Windows).
