Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)


It was working fine 4-5 days ago -- Lights up at boot --- nothing been removed--
My Comp lists 4 devices F,G,H, & I- pretty sure it's F or I ? How to tell for sure ? I saw the advice to uninstall and reboot - and windws would reinstall --would like to make sure doing right one --- I would really  prefer not to sys restore to 5 days ago-
after 3 days of screwing around with windows firewall not displaying settings  tweaked services running and turning off norton FW FINALLY got that straightened out so I can connect to poker clients and have added some stuff don't want to lose in a sys restore.  When I try to update driver wiz says already have best driver--
Yesterday fixed MODEM problem (not really sure how I did it sheer persistance and much cussing I guess ) , so some jiggling around was done --but if it lights up -- it's probably in there OK right ?

Can anyone guide me thru options besides sys restore ?

          HP DVD Writer 400C

Or you could look under DISK Management which will have a full description of each drive/partition you have on that SYSTEM...
