Solve : dvd drivd trouble?

My dvd/cd rw drive no longer even reads dvds. I have tried updating the DRIVER, even have reinstalled windows, it worked for a minute then back to not READING them. any sugestions?
tictwac ..... Was this before or after spilling the water on the keyboard ?

dl65 dvd problem came before the water issue

Is this the same laptop? Sounds like it's dying - I'd salvage what you can and BUY a new one. I don't think THERES much hope in the drive reliably working again, especially as the problem indicates a hardware fault.Has this problematic laptop TAKEN a recent spill by the way ? ?

The issues seem similar...DVD not working...HDD not recognised.
