Ok i just plugged in my extrernal philps dvd and its not playing dvds , and in my computer its being read as CD-DRIVE....... any thoughts on how to fix this.....

my drive : DVD-DRIVE Update Driversdoesnt have drivers....Google the serial number and you should FIND driversA DVD drive will report itself to Windows according to the last type of media that was used in it...

Re-boot...put a DVD in and play something and re-boot and see how it is being identified to prove this,
If it's ACTUALLY refusing to play DVD's there may be other issues...you need to post what player you are running what type of DVD this is and where this DVD was scarfed from to go further...hey patio

Theres a link to the dvd-drive in my 1st post ... and sorry i didnt explain to you what i had already done ... i did try that method rebooting with a dvd in , didnt work i also tryed disableing in it in bios . that didnt work ..... im trying to run a game ...... dvd-rom of course , doesnt read or anything just flashs and thats it ..... i have a internal up and running at the moment , but i need to port for my harddrive so it cant stay there for to long .....
