Solve : DVD Drive is RAW?

Answer»
OK, this has happened to me before but i cannot remember what i did. Anyway, my DVD drive says that it's format is RAW. It will not play dvd's or even acknowledge that there's DATA on the disks. Soon as you close the tray with a dvd in it changes to a cd drive. Help!

I've Windows XP, the DVD drive is a HP LIGHTSCRIBE RW.

Thanks
Anybody??  DVD drive is in RAW format, or DVD put into DVD drive is shown as RAW format?Don't hold me to the exact numbers, but RAW video, but if I remember right, RAW video is straight out of a video camera, and is TOTALLY uncompressed, and is about 270 Mbs.  That would fill up a DVD pretty fast.

I've never seen the option, but there may be some instances where some one would need to record RAW video to a DVD for brief clips.

Check your settings on your software.Have you tried doing a system restore to before the problem started?

Did you make any changes to the computer right before this started?

The DVD drive, in MY Computer, say Format unknown - but when i put in a blank disk or a pre-recorded DVD (not a copy) then it does not play and the format changes to RAW. When a blank disk is inserted it reads that the disk has no free space available and the format is RAW.

I have uploaded video from a digital video recorder recently but i did not burn to disk. The video is still on my hard drive.

Oh, yes, last week i burnt a CD that was a compilation - made up of different tracks from albums that i own. The CD plays fine.

Any ideas anyone???
Good grief. I check the settings again and clicked off the 'Enable CD recording on this drive' and now everything works. It now recognizes DVD's and blank disks.

Is this normal, am i missing something here??Nice
