Solve : dvd drive not accessible?

Answer»

What content is on there and was this a copy or a burned DVD of something else?this is from my camcorder a home video that i made. it was not from anywhere else nothing illegalNot implying illegal, just trying to see what the problem could be.

Well I think it has to be in a SPECIAL format to be played on a home DVD player which is what you are using. You may want to check the requirements for that machine like what file types or structures are supported.

The fact that it plays on your machine shows that the BURNER is working though, and that is good news.

What kind of software came with it, or what were you using to burn the DVD with? What is the make and model # of the home unit? Do we know what types of format it supports?nero came with it and i couldnt figure out how to work that..... i burned it with power2go program. it showed a mpeg and the info book on my dvd players says it has to be mpeg2 but i dont know how to CHANGE that. and the other extentions range from wmv to avi to MSWMM to mpg. i have tried everything i could think ofYou'll just need to do some reading to find how to do that. Maybe someone more knowledgable on this aspect will jump in. But here is some reading that may be all you need.

What version Nero? That should be enough:

Like stated above, most home systems don't play MPEG. MPEG2 is a completely different animal... (compression ratio is much higher) not something you can just modify. Try taking the movie file and converting it DVD, VCD or SVCD and then burn it to the DVD. You can find programs to do this at Download.com... Just type in the search window (mpeg to DVD).

If you have Nero SmartStart installed, use that to select the DvD device. If not, there is a setting within Nero that switches between DvD and CD. Where that is depends upon which version that you have.

If you want the simplest DvD burning software on the market, then DvDSanta is made for you. Unfortunately, it's not free at US$29.99.i hope you dont mind me asking a tech question.

my dvdrw/cdrw and my cdrw/dvdrom drives stopped being able to record they get over half way or to 99% then they stop saying that it could not complete the burn. i have reinstalled the drivers, tried cdr's, cdrw's, and dvdr in both drives. none work. i have tried music, and photographs also just some data. all the same. i can still play games and watch movies, just not burn. i have tried drag and drop burning, and nero all with the same results. i dont know what to do.

i am running a gateway 7200x, 3.4gz, 1gig ram, 128 mb ati graphics, xp home w/sp2. has anyone had this problem before or know of a solution. thanks
