Answer» Hey, i just custom built a new desktop computer from scratch. It works great and all, except now it won't read any game discs/DVDs. It seemed like it started doing this when I installed a new keyboard and disabled some services to decrease memory USAGE. I don't THINK I disabled any service that would cause this problem, but I have tried everything, from reenabling all the startup services, and even a system RECOVERY. Its beyond me at this moment. My setup is below...
Case: XION Vantage AXP100 Gaming Series Motherboard: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO CPU: AMD Athlon 2 X2 240 processor GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4200 PSU: DiabloTek 450W power supply HDD: Western Digital WD5000AVDS 500GB DVD Drive: Sony iHDS1158... i'm actually not sure but it's a Sony
Any help is GREATLY appreciated Thanks all for your help
Will it boot to a DVD?My bet is it's a service you disabled... Do a system RESTORE to a point prior to when you went playing around in there...No, it won't read any type of DVD's. I even bought a 10-pack of DVD-Rs and it won't read ANY of them which upsets me. I have tried a system restore last week, but same ol' problem. I just ordered a new drive today, so MAYBE that will work. BTW, the drive is a Lite-On. I don't know why I thought it wuz a Sony. lol ;pHave you tried downloading ffdshow drivers? That could be the problem. That happened to me when i bought an Emprex dvd-rw 5 years agoYeah ill try that. Drivers did come to mind but I just thought that the ones that were automatically installed when I installed this DVD drive would work as usual.
