Solve : DVD Rom not showing in my computer?

Sorry I am new to this but I have a computer with a quad core CPU,2 DVD BURNERS one is an LG and the other is an Aopen which I brought today but when I installed it, they would not show up in My computer. It does show up in the bios. They do OPEN and the lights come on when you first start up but do not work when you put a disk in. I also installed a Asus EN9500GT 1G Video card up till the all was fine can anyone please help.IDE or SATA drives ? ?
If IDE do you have the jumperds set properly ? ?

This is an innaccurate generalisation...
RIDICULOUS to blame any 1 OS...since it's been happening WAY before Win7 was even in BETA.
