Solve : DVD Rom not working?

Answer»

Greetings,

Recently my motherboard died and i just finished replacing it. Everything works fine except the DVD rom now.

I have check this ROM on another computer and works fine. ALSO note that when I installed the physical hardware it poped up SAYING that it DETECTED several primary and secondary IDE drive (the DVD rom is the only IDE item on this computer)

BiOS seems to recognize the rom but when you go into the 'my computer' the rom is not listed. Also on my Device Manager there are several Primary and Secondary IDE Channel's listed and a few of each are yellow ! icon.

Any assistance would be appreciated. If this is XP have you tried CD-DVD Fix ?--->TryHere

When you post in 2 different sections it only complicates matters...
For example in your other thread there is no mention of problem devices in Device Manager.

Re-install your MBoard drivers.
If this does not work travel back to Device Manager and remove the Primary and Secondary controllers and re-boot and see if Windows picks them up properly this time.Quote from: street1 on April 13, 2008, 08:15:13 AM

I am very sorry, I've edited that post as resolved and focus my Troubleshooting on this post...

I have attempted to uninstall and reboot for those "Primary IDE Channel" and "Secondary IDE Channel" but this did not correct them. when I select properties it says that there are not enough resources to use these.

As far as MB Drivers I am unable to do that because they are DVD based and the drive will not work...I am attempting to get them from the Gigabyte Website RIGHT now.Okay, a update of sorts

I reset bios and up reboot it is asking me something to the effect that my SATA HDD is running in IDE mode gives me a Y/N option and 5 seconds to correct it...I did not do anything now the DVD ROM IS APPEARING AND IS FUNCTIONING NORMAL

However, now the computer is rebooting about once every 20 minutes on its own.
