I am running windows xp with a penitum 4. I removed my old cd-rw drive and I added a PCI sata card in order to install a dvd+rw drive with sata connections. After installing the sytem had to RESTART and then error:
couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)PARTITION(1)
NTLDR: Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)
When I try to boot the computer up, it stops on this error. If i disconnect the dvd+rw drive it boots up and works FINE. What am I doing wrong? Please help...Why the change from IDE to sata?If you are USING XP os and have the connections secured when you boot up your device should be recognised.Have you tried another PCI slot if you have 1?Could be a bad card or rom drive?i bought the dvd+rw drive without realizing it was sata. My computer only had ide connections, so I added the pci sata card. it is in the only empty slot. if i disconnect the rom and continue the boot up, and then connect it after the computer is up, it recognizes the drive and installs it. but then it asks to reboot and i get that error...Probably you will need to edit BOOT.INI
