Solve : DVD-RW disk?

Answer»

I had 197 MB of data burned onto a DVD-RW disk. I intentionally deleted the CONTENTS of the disk to start over, but when I open up the disk in "my computer" to view how much space has been used it still says that 197 MB is used, even though I deleted everything off the disk..... Why is this so???

Also, what is the point of using an RW disk if you are going to use a "Master" type of format? Since "mastered" disks can't be erased, wouldn't that be a waste of a good RW disk?

If an "RW" or "R" disk has been formated with "live file system" can files be added using the "mastered" file system, later? What program you used to ERASE the disk? TRY burning something new on the disk and see what happens, you might have just quick deleted, where all the information are marked to be deleted until you have new stuff overwrite the stuff to be erased.I didn't use any program to erase the disk. All I did was right click on the individual files and clicked on "delete". To add stuff all I did was drag and drop.

But now I can't add anything to it....When I insert the disk, all it does is SPIN and spin and spin and it doesn't READ anything off the disk. This is the second RW disk that went bad on me in the last few days.

Incidentally, the RW drive that I'm using doesn't play certain DVD movies, even when they are bran new, not scrached or anything.... I know its partly a faulty drive but I can't figure out if that is why my disks are going bad. I've used the RW drive a few times tonight to burn files to the disk but now the disk doesn't work.Try using a program to delete, maybe it's gonna work. I always deleted completely using nero.

You have partly faulty drive, better get it repaired, get a new one or if there's warranty still on it even better.
