Sound breaks up badly with dvd - irrespective of player (CURRENTLY PHILIPS jr4dvdrw) ... though identical problems with sony ... similarly identical problem with all software ... nero ... realplayer ... mediaplayer 9.

directx 9c : Ok

codecs (can send details, if needed) … maybe missing critical ones??

could possibly be set up for ANALOGUE instead of digital but can't work out how to check??

Any help would be much appreciated. MANY thanks.

EponymousDid it tused to work OK? Ifr so, what happened just prior to this?GXI_Man - thanks for this

Always worked fine on higher spec models (p4 etc). Problem first occured when tried to run DVD on similar spec socket 370.

Current tests purely to try and find out why not possible to run on original socket 370 - now getting identical symptoms on second socket 370 [sound break up]!

Here is [original] similar spec socket 370:

Windows XP Professional
BIOS Version/Date
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 6.27.10 12/18/2001
Mobo: Gigabyte TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd. 6VX7-4X / 6VX7B-4X 1.0
ram : 512 mb ram
cpu : 500 megahertz Intel Celeron
hdd : ST380021A [Hard drive] (80.03 GB)
sound : Santa Cruz(tm) WDM Interface (WDM)
video : ATI RADEON VE DDR [Display adapter]

Hope this helps. Thanks again,
