Solve : DVDs Crash the computer?

Answer»

This is a staaange problem

I have A Dell Dimension 3100 and i bought it 3 years ago with the windows XP media centre package. It had the Tv tuner and such but it didn't come with a restore disc. So when i had to restore my computer i had to use a normal XP restore disc from another computer. This seems to have really MESSED up my computer as i now do not have my Media Centre, TV options. The strangest thing is though is that my computer no longer plays DVDs. It will play games and will allow you to burn things onto blank CDS. But put in a bought DVD into the DVD RW drive and it just crashes the PC bringing up the 'beginning system memory DUMP' message with the blue background.

I am stuck on what to do as i have no restore disc to refer to and have TRIED installin the drivers on the Dell Website :S.

Any help would be greatly appriciated, if you need to contact me i have msn to talk over

thanks in advance

MattXP is different from Media Center so you will be missing some features you are used to having...
That being said i would travel to Dell's site, enter your Service tag # from the machine and DLoad and install all the available XP drivers...

Chipset drivers ALWAYS go first.will try that now thanks for your help boss hmm hasnt worked, thanks for GETTING back to me so QUICK thought. I'll keep trying What exactly hasn't worked ? ?downloadin the drivers from the dell website, i might just restore again and re download everything, but i dont know if itll work.
