Solve : DVI connection not working?

Answer»

I BOUGHT a  PC from an online company (primePC) with a GeForce 6600 graphics cards with a DVI and analog OUTPUT. I have a TFT monitor ACER AL1951 that accepts both DVI and analog input.  When I boot up with the DVI connection the screen displays the Windows XP logo boot up display, but the screen goes blank once the boot up is complete.  The analog connection works FINE.  When I go into the Display settings for the graphics card, I can select the display as a TFT monitor.  But once I do that, the screen goes blank (black).  Any ideas on what the problem may be?  Is it under warranty? I would start with the company. We are smart, but we cannot replace failed components or UNORTHODOX setups?Yes, the computer is still under warranty.  I was hoping to avoid the hassle of SENDING back the computer if it is only for an easy/quick fix.

Thanks.

The problem with attempting a fix is it's 2 pieces of hardware that weren't cheap...that monitor i'm guessing isn't exactly bottom of the line.
But when you attempt a fix you run the risk of completely voiding your warranty, trust me they can tell if you've been mucking about or not.
So if it's a problem let's say that isn't a cheap fix and costs big $$ you lose out because you tried to do it yourself.

Take the painful route and do the warranty thing. It might save you down the road.
