Answer» Hey everyone I just got running a new setup, which involved a intel motherboard, e6750 2.66 dual core processor, 8600gt ect
My cpu temp shown in bios for the CPU is around 45 C in the booklet that came with the CPU it states it should be around 38 C. Is this too high?
I tried a different heatsink / fan that i bought for 30 bucks but it went higher temp than the stock. Thanks!I just downloaded a program CALLED core temp and it said my cpu core # 1 was around 30 and # 2 was around 30 . THink thats ACCURATE? It's been a while since I've read up on CPU temp thresholds, but I know older chips (2-6 yrs) are around 90-100° C when they start to become ruined.
You can never trust SOFTWARE temperature gauges. It's very difficult to get an accurate measure of your temps even with real thermometers.
BTW, 30-50 C° is very common and is fine. CPU should live a long life. JUST FYI: Water cooling is better than standard air cooling. I've always water cooled my CPU's because the difference between 'idle' and 'load' is quite a bit on air. With liquid cooling there's but 5-10° C difference between 0% CPU usage and after I've been gaming for 3 hrs at 100% CPU usage. I think with air you can go from 35° to 55° under a load.Quote I tried a different heatsink / fan that i bought for 30 bucks but it went higher temp than the stock. did you apply thermal paste?
is your case well ventilated? a CPU cooler, regardless of make/model, will not do a good job if the ambient case temperature is fairly high.I did apply thermal paste. I also bought a fan for the front of the case, and I have a fan at the rear of the case. The one at the front brings in air, while the one at the back blows air out.
The heatsink/fan that i bought had the same senario as the OEM but the OEM performed better.
