Solve : Error on Windows Media player?

Answer»

I'm getting the following message whenever I try to play DVD's on my player. "Not POSSIBLE to turn anolog copy protection on the output display." I've dl'd and install the codecs for Win XP and I've gone to the Xabre site, dl'd the latest driver but when I try to update the driver, it tells me that I already have the latest drivers for my video card. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?DRM again???
Try VLC PLayer: http://www.videolan.org/They're certainly getting better at it aren't they ? ?This crap is really getting out of hand...

I tried to play a DVD in my HP Pavilion notebook PC through my component video output to my HDTV and an error box came up stating:
"Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because it is not possible to turn on analog copy protection on the output display.
[...]Am I to understand that out of the box only Windows Media Center can play my DVD's? Do I have to BUY a seperate DVD decoder or DRM plug in for Media Player?

Copy Protection cuts in when your Video Card or Monitor does not comply to
the HDCP standard

Thanks for the links to the DRM stuff. The funny thing is that on the same PC, Windows Media Center will play a COPYRIGHTED DVD out the component port and Windows Media Player will not.
Join The FightYeah...Actually, I joined the fight...through Limewire...Thanks, I've dl'd vlc and will give it a try. The weird thing about this is that I'm TRYING to view a DVD that I made about a recent tragedy here in our community.Could it be that is why "windows media player" is incesantly bugging me to "UPGRADE--a newer version is available"?truenorthUsing Limewire only strengthens their position...think about it.I don't use Windows Media Player whatsoever. Period.Quote
Using Limewire only strengthens their position
That may be, but I use Limewire, because their practices for many years before Napster, made me to do so.
