Solve : Ethernet and audio refuses to function after format?

Answer»

I bought a COMPAQ C552US laptop, which came standard with Windows Vista. I wanted XP instead, so I did a clean install with a full format. EVERYTHING was okay until I realized that my audio and wireless were dead. Previously, they had been functioning fine. I tried to download drivers for them, the drivers that HP provides on their website (I searched "C552US"). I could install the driver for my wireless but I could not install the driver for my audio. I was given the error message that there was no device to install the driver on, as if the audio device was not connected! My wireless is a Realtek RTL8139 and the driver was, as mentioned, installed successfully. However, my computer does not recognize that my wireless is in fact connected and gives me the "Network cable unplugged" error. I have the devices enabled but the computer claims that they are not connected. This is QUITE the dilemna. What should I do?Use the driver disk that came with the laptop instead of DLoaded drivers. There were none that came with the laptop Why not ? ?

All laptops ship with a restore CD and a driver CD...I've seen brand name laptops that shipped with neither patio. Think restore partitions and drivers from the manufacturer's site.Well it's been a year since my last laptop purchase so i guess i'm out of the loop on this one...Quote from: Tamashii on AUGUST 25, 2007, 10:13:19 PM
