I want to connect my PC to the internet, to use the internet I have to use my dads/the familys computer on the ground floor. My computer is on the first floor. We have one BT Broadband connection. The only way I can think of to cheaply and safely share a connection is through ethernet/LAN, which is bad because I only have the most basic knowledge and I don't know if the built in ETHERNETS on both computers is compatible.
Is there another, simpler easier way? i don't think i can split the connecion and simply wire it to my computer because i don't have a modem and the signal would not make it through the metres and metres to upstairs...
