Yes, our teacher is a crack head. He thinks he wants and IP Sniffer. He doesn't know an IP Sniffer is a program that tells you what IP belongs to what computer. Is there a device that will tell us which wire belongs to which computer?

ThanksNo but a general course in electronics will tell you what you need to know...what is it you need to know ? ?there is such a device. i have used it in tracing TELEPHONE lines from INDIVIDUAL townhouse units all the way to the main telephone junction for a townhouse BLOCK. they are called "wire toners" or "wire tracers".

this is how they work...

1. you plug in a "remote" on one end of of the wire (the remote sends a signal down the wire)
2. you PLACE the toner on all the wires one by one until the toner starts making a noise.
3. the wire that makes the noise is the wire that has the remote plugged into it.

they are very EASY to use, however i do not know how much they cost.

you can also use an ohm meter (or multi meter) and jumper ALL the wires on one end of the cable and test to see for continuity on the other end.
