Solve : ethernet cards? |
|
Answer» is it FUTILE to try to install an ethernet CARD on a computer that is eight years old? It is a Pentium processor I don't KNOW the speed, it runs Windows 98 and has a whopping 32 mb RAMAny PCI ethernet card should work in a PCI slot on that machine. It is definitely NOT futile! Windows 98 and 32 meg RAM would be a more limiting factor. What are you planning to do.I still have a Pentium that's about 10 1/2 years old. I have an ethernet card installed in an ISA slot. This old machine runs Win 98SE and 128MB RAM. It has two ISA slots and one PCI slot. Since the PCI slot had a video card in it, I searched for, and found, an ethernet card for an ISA slot. It gets the same download speeds as my main computer, but is slow and choppy on rendering some web pages. I think ISA was limited to 10 Mbps and there can be DRIVER issues. Make sure you are using the correct one. |
